Numerous concert tours have taken Gesa Lücker across Germany, the USA, China,
and European countries, performing in venues such as the grand NDR Hannover
broadcast hall, Yamaha Hall, and Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall) in New York, the
Wigmore Hall in London, and the Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai. She has given
recitals, masterclasses, and lectures on several tours in China, including
Shanghai,Beijing (Tsinghua University, China Conservatory of Music), Suzhou
(Culture and Arts Center), Nanjing (Nanjing Arts Center) as well as in New York
City, where she was a regular guest at the “International Keyboard Institute and
Festival.”
Born in Braunschweig, Germany, Gesa Lücker studied at the Hochschule für Musik
und Theater Hannover, where she completed her concert exam under Martin Dörrie
and Matti Raekallio. Further inspirations she received from musicians such as
Arie Vardi, Fabio Bidini, and Jerome Rose. She is a prizewinner of the Bruno Frey
Foundation, the Chopin Society Hannover, and various national and international
competitions.
Her chamber music partners include soloists from the Concertgebouw Orchestra
Amsterdam, the Tonhalle Orchestra Düsseldorf, the WDR Orchestra Cologne, as
well as Tanja Becker-Bender, Katharina Deserno, Gabriele Leporatti, and others.
Gesa Lücker started her teaching career during her studies at the Hochschule für
Musik und Theater Hannover at the “Institute for Early Training of Musically Gifted
Students” since its foundation in 2000, before being appointed in 2010 as one of
the youngest professors of piano in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz
Köln. Currently she is also the head of the Piano Department at the institution. Her
students regularly win prizes in national and international competitions and secure
teaching positions.
As a regular jury member, she has worked in competitions such as the Singapore
International Piano Competition 2020 and 2025, the NYCA Worldwide Debut
Audition, the IKIF Dorothy McKenzie Award in New York, the Carl Bechstein
Competition in Berlin, the Carl Maria von Weber International Piano Competition in
Dresden, and many more.
Her CD recordings have been released by Genuin (works by Mozart and Prokofiev)
and Wergo (B. Heller). In 2026, a new recording featuring works by Robert
Schumann and Luise Adolpha Le Beau, a German composer whose works Gesa
has passionately championed, will be released.
